A Journey of Faith and Compassion
From Conquering Cancer to Becoming a Beacon of Community Service
In 2004, Pastor Rick faced a life-altering diagnosis: colon cancer.
This marked the beginning of an arduous battle that involved seven surgeries and enduring a year of chemotherapy. It was a journey marked by physical and emotional trials, but it was also a journey that uncovered a profound calling.
Throughout the process of treatment and recovery, Pastor Rick couldn’t help but notice the unmet needs of those around them. They observed that many churches were unintentionally overlooking individuals who were in desperate need of assistance. It was during this period that a deep sense of purpose began to emerge – a calling to make a meaningful impact right within the heart of the community.
It was in these challenging times that Pastor Rick came across a passage from Ephesians 4:1-3 that would serve as their guiding principle. This passage encouraged them to “Walk Worthy” of their calling, emphasizing qualities such as humility, gentleness, patience, and the significance of extending help, reflecting the love that God has shown us. This path of service not only fosters unity but also brings about peace.
Since those humble beginnings, Pastor Rick has taken the initiative to create opportunities for serving the elderly and those who felt disheartened within their community. This included gathering and distributing food, addressing basic needs, and facilitating Bible studies. As a result, a small church was established, enabling them to expand their assistance in more significant ways. Over time, their church has grown to include an online ministry, and they’ve been able to support the establishment of churches in the Philippines and provide aid in Kenya. Their mission of service began in 2004 in California and has recently continued in Georgia, where they’re commencing a new chapter of giving and hope.
“Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.“
